How Does it Work?
My 10-Step Process for White Paper Projects
for My Clients

1. Contact Me

Send me an email to set up a time for a 15-30 minute no charge phone consultation.

During the call, we will discuss the project, timeline and budget.

Afterwards, if we both feel we are the right fit, I send you a written summary of our conversation including a Project Estimate.

The average cost of the typical White Paper (6-10 pages) is between $5K and $8K, depending on the subject matter, research needs, timeline, etc.

2. CONFIRMATION

Once you have reviewed the materials and decided you would like to work with me, I ask for a written confirmation of that and a 50% deposit on the project.

NOTE: White Papers typically take 4-6 weeks from start to completion.

Then, let’s get going!

3. PLANNING

I send you a simple worksheet asking some  basics like your business goal and White Paper audience.

I will research the topic and your company.

We’ll then do a phone call from one or two people from your company involved with the White Paper.

I transcribe those interviews, create an outline of the project, and write an Executive Summary.

4. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

I deliver a one-page Executive Summary outlining the White Paper.

The Summary is a one-page document that shows the White Paper’s main points.

This Summary may take one or two revisions to get things in order. Afterwards, I’ll begin the writing of the full White Paper.

(Note: The Executive Summary will likely go through additional revisions. The final Executive Summary will be rewritten to match the final draft of the White Paper.)

5. FIRST DRAFT REVIEW

I will deliver the First Draft for your fact-checking and comments.

6. FINAL DRAFT REVIEW

I will deliver the Final Draft for your fact-checking and comments.

At this point we get a Sign-Off from all reviewers.

7. DESIGN

The design and layout can be done by your designer or mine (billed separately).

8. QUALITY CHECK

Both writer and company will review final PDF for any typos, etc.

9. USAGE

Your White Paper is ready for publication.

Remember, you can repurpose your White Papers for other B2B or B2C content like Case Studies, Placed Articles, Press Releases, Blog Posts, E-Newsletters, Web Pages, Slide Decks, Tweets, Blog Posts, Web Pages etc.

10. BILLING

My billing schedule is as follows:

50% deposit on project confirmation;

25% due after First Draft Review;

25% due after Final Draft Sign-Off.
